Care Experienced or Estranged Students
We are committed to ensuring that students from all backgrounds are able to thrive at Guildhall School.
We recognise that students who join the School without the support of a family network are likely to face additional challenges and we are dedicated to supporting you in your transition to student life and throughout your time at the School.
Although every student will have different and very individual circumstances, care experienced and estranged students may encounter similar barriers that limit your ability to engage fully in student life, regarding:
Funding and money management*
Accommodation
Mental health and wellbeing
Lack of support networks
Social wellbeing and belonging
The School has therefore developed a range of support and resources, and identified three named contacts, to help you navigate and overcome these barriers from application through to enrolment and all the way to graduation.
* Further details are available on our Student Funding page.
Please note: in order to be eligible for certain financial support, specific definitions of ‘care experience’ or estrangement apply.
Please refer to our website for more information or contact the Access and Participation team with any questions.
Report and Support
Guildhall School is committed to treating all reports of inappropriate, unwanted, abusive or violent behaviour with the utmost seriousness and sensitivity, and to providing students and staff with ongoing support.
The School has launched a new Report + Support portal, providing a process for any student or staff member to submit a report with contact details or make an anonymous disclosure where they have experienced any form of abusive or inappropriate behaviour or misconduct by other students or staff, or from third parties outside of Guildhall. The portal also directs students and staff to a range of support that is available, both from within the School and from external organisations.

Student Assistance Programme
The School subscribes to the Student Assistance Programme (SAP) operated by Health Assured on behalf of Endsleigh.
Students have access to their helpline, 24/7, 365 days a year.
Students can call the helpline to speak to a counsellor or advisor. They will offer ‘in the moment’ support and time to talk about your concerns. They provide guidance and explore strategies that will help you in the present. At the end of the call, they will explain your options for further support.
In high-risk situations, the helpline will triage appropriately to ensure that you receive urgent support.
